What music played a special role in the other Wes Moore’s life? What role does music play in your life?

    The type of music that played a special role in the other Wes Moore's life was Hip Hop, it had given him a direction and purpose in life by inspiring him to want to become a rapper. For me, punk/alt rock plays a role in my life as a sort of outlet. When I was younger and first was introduced to it, the music kind of did all the screaming and venting of my emotions for me and it has this aggressive passion behind it. It isn't just how aggressive it can be that attracts me to it, I really like when bands of this genre have more sad sounding songs in their albums, especially now as an adult. The more calm/melancholy songs are kind of the aftermath of the aggressive songs; the calm after the storm so to speak. In short, alt rock has a special place in my life for relieving certain internal struggles.


Has anyone ever played a trick on you? How did that make you feel? What did Wes learn from the prank?

    I have had people play mean-spirited tricks on me before, thankfully not too bad but they still hurt a bit. Sometimes people had me believe that they were my friends when in reality they were not and only made me believe so that they could keep me around to laugh at. These were mostly done by kids that didn't know I was special needs and just thought it was fun listening to the "weird girl" ramble. Special needs or not, it still was not right by any means and at the time I didn't realize this was happening. By the time it had occurred to me what these kids were actually doing, I was already out of high school living as a young adult so it didn't hurt too bad. After Wes was pranked into thinking he could escape military school, he learned that he cannot run away all the time from difficult or unpleasant things.


Have you ever had to give someone news that you knew would break their heart? How did you build up the courage?

   Thankfully, I have not had to give anyone heartbreaking news, yet, in my life. However, I have been on the receiving end of heartbreaking news, between deaths in the family to a loved one confessing an upsetting secret to me. It is certainly a shocking thing to experience and I find most of the time it has an impact on my perspectives. I can only imagine what kind of courage people have had to build up in order to tell me certain things. But, I hope that because I like to be a forgiving and open person that it was not too difficult for them, and they felt comfortable telling me to some degree. At this time, I am not sure how good I would be at giving unpleasant news, but all I can hope for is that I am able to help that person through it, if they are meaningful to me, And that everything will be ok in the end. I hope I would never have to give heartbreaking news to anyone that I love or care for, but life can be funny like that.

       In a way, fast food has become the new tobacco in the sense that it has become an addiction for some. Although personal responsibility is an important factor within this issue, the real source of the problem is large corporation. Fast food companies, like McDonald's, have gained so much wealth, influence and other resources that they use to target certain types of people to become their permanent customers. Specifically, people and families of low income, some but not all, tend to eat fast food often because of the affordable prices; not everyone can buy healthy food long-term at grocery stores due to high prices.   My name is Madyson LaManna, I’m twenty two years old and I am currently majoring in Media Arts. To some degree in my life, my experience with literacy has been a unique one. When I was very young, I had a few development issues in my physical abilities and having a delay in my speech skills. So alongside the various types of therapy I had to do, (walking, behavior, attention, etc.) I also took speech therapy. However, during my years in elementary school, as well as middle school, I was always a good reader and read above my grade level by two. Nowadays, I struggle to find the time to pick up a book and the attention span needed to complete even a chapter of a novel.
